Sensory Integration
It is a mental process in which various sensory information coming from our senses to the brain to enable us to understand our environment and respond to its stimuli appropriately. Sensory integration disorders indicate difficulties in organizing the sensory information coming from various senses to the brain, leading to difficulties in concentration and attention. The child also exhibits behaviors such as distraction, hyperactivity, lack of acceptance of some tactile stimuli , general weakness of the body muscles, academic weakness and inability to socially engage with others.
The sensory integration specialist works with children in the special sensory room and with tools and therapeutic programs to help them organize the sensory information coming to the brain in different ways. The effectiveness of this therapy will be reflected in the child's academic performance and attention, social interaction and muscular strength.
